Queen Elizabeth II sails from Boston.

September 1, 1992

The giant cruise ship had run aground off Cuttyhunk Island on August 7, 1992, and had been brought to Boston for repairs at the South Boston Navy Base. More than 200 workers from General Ship Company, who had worked around-the-clock on the job, see the ship off while wearing T-shirts that read “Boston Fixed the Queen.”
